Aniblogger-love blossoms in Spring

Some of us love our Morning Musume. Some of us can't get enough of AKB48. Or maybe we like to drool over those sexy Johnny's boys. Perhaps we're part of the group that is still weeping over TVXQ's "suspension of activities" (I know I am.). Or maybe, we want to follow the "real" artists of the J-Pop scene and like to spend our time appreciating YUI's heartfelt lyrics and beautiful acoustic arrangements. Over the internet, we've all found our own niches in the blogosphere and in forums. We've made friends to fangirl and fanboy with- but have any of us gone further than that?

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away and in a time that's not so hard to remember, I'm sure lots of us J-pop fans were once anime fans. Maybe we still are anime fans. And if you are an anime fan, chances are you know about THAT Animeblog, one of the most active anime blogs with extensive and frequent episode-by-episode reviews of the newest series, as well as insightful articles by many of its talented staff. Though I don't get to watch anime as often as I'd like to these days (listening to J-pop happens to be a lot less time consuming and a lot more conducive to multitasking) I still return to that site often to check out the latest happenings in the anime blogosphere.

And lo and behold, after scrolling down a couple of posts, I find that one of my favorite writers on the blog, the infamous shoujo-loving fanboy Impz, has proposed to and married his long-distance girlfriend and fellow blogger, 13sugars.

^I do recommend that you read his adorable telling of the story of how they bonded over shoujo manga and have finally found their happily ever after.

It always gives me the fuzzies to hear about stories like this. I wish them all the best <3

Personally, I'd love to marry someone is also obsessed with Japanese culture. But then again, I guess I would have a fun time trying to "convert" my future hubby if it turns out he doesn't know a thing about J-pop. I would be fine either way, I guess... honestly, I have so many other interests that I'm pretty sure that the two of us could definitely find common ground somewhere.

Did you ever wish that you could marry someone who's obsessed with the same things you are? And if you are married, do you have any thoughts to share about living with someone who does or doesn't share your interests?

  1. I loved your article. My fiance is obsessed with the Japanese culture just as much as I am. You don't know how good it feels to snuggle up on the couch, watch an episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, and be able to have a deep conversation about it afterward.

  2. Aw, that sounds so sweet <3. Unfortunately for me I haven't found anyone of the opposite sex that's at once attractive and interested in the same things I am. XD.

  3. Whoa weirdness... I remember that post! It made me happy too, after 2 long years of lurking on their blog (and wondering why Impz stopped posting for a long time).
it would be nice to meet someone who shares my interests. Buuuut everyone I know IRL who likes the same stuff I do drives me insane with music requests and stuff -_-; so there's two sides to that.

  4. haha dreamtiny yeah, I was a little late to the party with this post (and he'll probably never know to boot since blogspot doesn't do trackbacks XD)
I agree that there's definitely two sides to the coin though.
